We are using Twitter as a way to give frequent updates about Town Hall for Hope to anyone who wants to see them. All you have to do is log in to Twitter, go to our page (twitter.com/townhallforhope), click the Follow button, and there you have it … Town Hall for Hope updates are coming your way!
But it doesn’t stop there! When we send out an update, we want these things to go long and far, so retweet them! Talk about them! Post about them! Tweet it up! The movement of hope relies on the American people—let’s get to all of them!
How do I sign up and help?
- Go to Twitter to sign up. It’s free and only takes a few seconds to do.
- Go to Find People and search TownHallForHope (one word).
- Click the Follow button to start following our tweets.
- Retweet our posts to your followers. This will help us spread the word!
- Be sure to use the hashtag #THFH on any tweet that is related to the Town Hall for Hope event. This will help us keep up with the conversation!
Twitterology
- Twitter – A social media application that allows you to post text updates.
- Tweets – Updates posted to Twitter. Tweets are limited to 140 characters.
- Followers – The Twitter users who subscribe to your updates.
- @Reply (At Reply) – Allows you to respond to a tweet from another user or direct an original tweet to a specific user. Simply type the @ symbol before their username (with no space in between) and then type in your tweet. Example: “@TownHallforHope I’m an American and I choose not to participate in this recession!”
- Retweet – Allows you to forward a tweet that you find interesting to your followers. To retweet, simply copy and paste the original tweet (including the original tweeter’s username) into a new tweet of your own. Be sure to add “RT @” before the original tweeter’s username. This will make sure that the original tweeter gets proper credit for his or her content. Example: RT @LanceTOsborne: Hosting #THFH? Tech details emailed to you soon. Info includes schedule, stream access, testing, and contingencies.
- Hashtag – A label or tag for your tweet. Hashtags allow other users to easily search tweets pertaining to a certain subject. Example: “We just added 83 more host sites for Town Hall for Hope! #THFH.” The #THFH is the official hashtag for all tweets related to the Town Hall for Hope event.

Become a friend of Dave’s and a fan of Town Hall for Hope! We are using Facebook as a way for tens of thousands of people to talk about the movement of hope among friends. We are sharing videos, special images, and even taking questions from Facebook fans that could be answered by Dave on the big night! Also, write on our wall, and your comment could be featured on TownHallForHope.com!
How do I sign up and help?
- Go to Facebook to register. It’s free and only takes a minute to do.
- Read and agree to the Terms of Service then click Register Now.
- Start looking for your friends by name or email address.
- Become a fan of the Town Hall for Hope page.
- Send your friends a message about HOPE and post messages or make comments on the Town Hall for Hope wall.
Facebook Terminology
- Facebook – An online site that lets you connect with Dave Ramsey fans across the world.
- Write something... (Status update) – Allows you to tell your friends what’s on your mind or what you’re doing in real time (similar to a tweet on Twitter). Example: “I’m attending Dave Ramsey’s Town Hall for Hope on April 23. What are you doing that night?” You can also add links, pictures and video to your status updates.
- Profile – This is the page your friends see. It has your picture, general information about you and a “wall” of comments from your friends. The term “wall” is used often – “I wrote on your wall,” “Check out the video I posted on your wall,” etc.
- Friends – You must accept all of your friends. People send invites, and you have the power to accept or reject them.
- Group – A group can be about anything. You can create a group, invite your friends, and join groups that are already created. We've created a group for the Town Hall for Hope - join it! Other examples: Dave Ramsey Fans, Debt-Free People, etc.
- Events – Friends will send you event invitations. If you choose to attend the event, it’s on your profile. You can send event invitations to all of your friends as well as post it publically for others to see in your city, state, region or country. RSVP on the Town Hall for Hope event page!

YouTube is a place we are using to host our latest promotional videos about Town Hall for Hope and receive video questions for Dave to answer during the event. We have a channel set up just for this event (YouTube.com/TownHallForHope). Subscribe to the channel to be the first to get the videos, comment on the videos, and embed the videos on Facebook, blogs, Twitter, etc.
But it’s not just about our videos; we want American voices to be heard! Create videos! Create videos! Create videos!
How do I sign up and help?
Whether you want to ask Dave a question or just tell the world that you are an American and you choose hope, create a video! Here's how you can submit a video question for Dave:
- Go to the Town Hall for Hope YouTube page.
- Click - Groups (top middle)
- Click - Town Hall for Hope Questions
- Click - Join the Group
- Login to your YouTube account or create and account if you don't have one. It's free and easy to set up.
- Click - Upload Video
